From the DVD

"The Corrs have emerged as an international success around the world, from Sweden to New Zealand and all points between. Enjoy the Corrs phenomenon on DVD for the first time: filmed at a concert on St. Patricks's Day 1998, and including the complete 85-minute show that rocked London's Royal Albert Hall. All the hits from their two multi-platinum albums 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten' and 'Talk On Corners' are included plus a featured appearance of special guest Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac on three songs".

My View

I wasn't a fan before seeing this DVD - but I am now. I had heard their music in the background, but hadn't really noticed.

I do like Irish music however, and there is a lot of the influence of Ireland in this. I must have listened to track 12 - "Haste to the Wedding" about twenty times - absolutely incredible, featuring each member of the group (band?) doing their thing on their own instrument, ranging from Drums (including Mick Fleetwood) through Bodhran, Tin Whistle, Accoustic and Electric Guitar and Keyboards, all led and held together by the very beautiful Sharon on the violin.

I think that for me, it was the music and rhythm that held the whole together more than the words - though words delivered by Andrea Corr can't be all bad. And she can get a tune and a half out of a tin whistle. (I always used to call it a Penny Whistle - but that probably dates me).

Jim Corr gave good service on guitar and keyboards - and in common with the rest, had a nice smile, which helped to bring them nearer to the audience.

Caroline Corr, on drums, must be the equivalent of a musical workaholic. She gave it her all throughout and again, the parts where she and Mick Fleetwood were working together were unforgetable.

The four, as well as being supported by Mick, had Keith Duffy supporting them on Bass, and Conor Brady on Guitar.

The Production

Generally well produced - odd bodies running here and there, often with camera in hand, but that mobility of view meant that quite often the picture we got was just right. The most memorable, though brief, was of Mick Fleetwood with Caroline Corr in the same shot giving it Wellie.

It worked for me!

The DVD

I have no experience of DVD - In fact, this was my first, so I'm not sure whether in due course I will change my mind - but for me the quality of the picture was a revelation. In the case of the Corrs, because they are beautiful people, I was glad to see the texture of the skin and the down on their arms. I didn't even mind seeing the sweat trickling down their necks - but the detail was clearly visible. Come to think of it, I didn't notice any of that on Jim Corr - perhaps I wasn't looking closely enough at him!

Shame about the (lack of) extras

To Sum Up

This DVD was a fantastic introduction to DVD for me.

The whole team on stage gave everything they could, and as a showcase of the Corr's music I couldn't fault it.

This DVD is going to be one which proves the worth of the medium - I am going to play it time after time, and it is nice to know that it won't wear out.
