Fantasic film, shame it wont play on my Samsung 709. :( Definitely a 9/10 going on 10/10 type film. Full of action and the mystery of "The Matrix" will keep paranoid people (LIKE ME!!!) asking questions about reality for ages. GET THIS FILM!!! Still here?

After seeing the film twice at the cinema it looses nothing on DVD. Good visuals and audio a plenty, the only down side is the extras, no trailers but the behind the scenes option is good but maybe a bit too much jargon for the majority of DVD watchers when the slow motion shots are explained.

Overall a fantastic film but shame about the 709 not liking it.

Since this DVD would not even load on my new DVD player I would say that Warner produced a piece of crap. I just want to view the movie and if Warner cannot master a dvd that allows that they should recall the dvd and produce a copy that can be run on all players.

Unlike the other reviewers I only have a PC-DVD this makes the comments about PC only features that the main review picks up on a little irrelevent to me, I can see them so thats ok (selfish I know..)

Whats my opinion ? awesome.......

The movie is one of the best of the year, in my opinion anyway (I so wanted to love SW:TPM but there was something missing..) the disc itself is awesome, excellent features, awesome sound (I have a decent 100w surround speaker set up on the PC) that make the study rock, exellent menu's and presentation. Can't really comment on quality I'm using 20 in VDU not a 32in widescreen tv but the quality seemed fine to me.

The Extras are great I'm a sucker for a cast/crew commentrary and this one is good. I especially like the white rabbit feature, not something you'd do more than once but definitely worth trying out. I also rate the storyboard/script section where you are able to drop into the movie along with the script or storyboards.

I'm only recently converted to DVD but this is the best one in my collection so far.

Any I'm off to watch the lift lobby sequence again.

I loved this film at the cinema......

The DVD release is awesome. Its probably the most impressive DVD that I own and really shows IMHO what the DVD format is capable of. I've yet to "Follow the White Rabbit", but the Making of feature was rivetting....I usually don't bother with extras on DVD's but I will be looking through everything on this disk.

You can even "Take the Red Pill" on the menu and get another featurette on the special effects.

The menu system is thebest that I have ever seen with full motion clips from the film.

I'm surprised to hear about glitches. Everything worked flawlessly on my Pioneer DV717.

As movies go The Matrix is a very clever mix of sci-fi and cyber-punk. The story is excellent with good performances all round including the usually wooden Keanu Reeves.

The special effects are of the highest order withe superb use of sound and sound effects. The bullet time sequences are unusual and effective and not over used. The disc itself is packed with extras, some good - like the making of, and some not so good - like the very short and not very well explained what is bullet time.

The picture quality is good but not the best I have seen and I did not have a real problem with the green tint as it was how it was shown in the cinema.

Overall this represents the type of film and disc I bought a dvd player for. Although I would disagree that this was the film of the year as I preferred The Phantom Menace and The Mummy.

Well, I FINALLY got hold of The Matrix! Amazon seemed to take their time, but eventually I got it.

Well, I think you will all know what the movie is about, and what the general consensus is among fans as to what is thought about it. So I won't go there.

This DVD has been expertly put together with a multitude of features, which again you will have read about countless times before. What do I think of it? Well, simply, brilliant. I don't know what peoples problems are with the picture. The 'green' never got to me, nor did I really notice it. The film was purposefully slightly grainy too, so no probs there. The making of docus in the features menu and in the follow the white rabit feature are very well put together and make for interesting watching more than once.

My main gripe is with the commentaries. The music one is the best even though the composer has long gaps between speech to let you listen to the music. However, the one with John Gaeta, Carrie Anne Moss is so dull I nearly fell asleep. Gaeta is far to technical on a nerd level, Moss says nothing at all really, and even manages to cop out during her own action sequences. the other guy was also pretty dull, though at least he made an attempt, often trying to get the others to make comments without success! What happaned to all the funny stories about incidents during filming etc? What about nice details about some of the other actors that appeared? The music composers commentary had more detail about the film than these guys! Dull dull dull.

Fantastic film though. Still a must buy DVD. Oh, and there were NO playback problems on my Sony M35.

What is The Matrix? No-one can tell you, you have to see it for yourself - unless you have a Samsung 807 DVD player when you can see some of it then some jittering, and then some more of the film.

Damn Warner and their stupid White Rabbit feature, all of the scenes that use this feature (which are undoubtedly the best ones of the movie) jitter and jump around, well, like a rabbit on steroids!

The really bad ones are:

a) The Kung-Fu Dojo fight
b) The gunfight with the security guards
c) The roof top battle with the Agent.

The worst think however is the hysterical laughter of so-called friends (as they watch the film jump & jitter around) who own Pioneer players and can watch the film perfectly :-)

Overall The Matrix it is a fantastic film and unfortunately is an example of a studio going so far with the special features, that they end up alienating those of us with the budget players.

OK, this film is fun - but hang on, it's not all that! As a DVD it really works and I can recommend it as a "must have" no problem. But the actual film itself is pretty weak. If you are into VR stuff and haven't thought about the kind of conundrums posed by The Matrix you should feel a little bit sorry for yourself.

DVD wise.WOW! Great picture (the colour tints are not only supposed to be there, a lot of the film would look pretty lame without them), the sound even better. Crisp, sharp and solid are three words that spring to mind. SPFX workman-like but not ground breaking (nothing you've not seen in pop promos) but again the DVD comes good with an interesting range of extras.

So all in all.go get it. But better than Episode 1? Look closer. Better than Blade Runner? (as some people have said). Ask me again in 15 years..And Keanu Reeves sans-wood? Dream on...

Not quite as good as at the cinema, but fantastic all the same.

The special effects are amazing, the sound crystal.

A disk ram packed full of extras, all be it most of them only available through a DVDROM. This is a little disapointing As after spend 500 quid on a player, I'm unlikely to be buying a DVDROM for my PC in the near future so I miss out on the majority of the extras.

That said the ones I could access were pretty cool .. but I'm still marking it down for being PC only..

This is not a good idea and not the way to go for DVD's.

Other than that.. Top film!
