Update: Since posting the original article Warner have contacted us requesting the Q4 dates be removed as they are not confirmed. Although we stated the dates in the article were not confirmed and almost certainly subject to change, we kind of expected this reaction and so are removing them. What follows is a revised piece (just the dates we're allowed to post), one that due to the request from Warner really tells you very little about their plans...

Where's the much-anticipated The Exorcist on BD or SD? I know it's on the way, William Friedkin confirmed this last year, but I'm getting sick and tired of being stuck with the same old 1999 DVD of one of the all-time greatest films ever made. Come on, Warners! I'm hoping there's so much new stuff to put on the disc, it keeps delaying the release date. One can dream.

So is the Towering Inferno SE DVD never going to get a R2 release?

grambax - Towering Inferno SE is a Fox release outside of the UK. Any Warner UK Blu-ray is potentially going to be just as barebones as the UK DVD release.

Thanks Dave. That explains why we never got the SE.
I keep forgetting that Towering Inferno was famously a multi-studio pic. I'd never looked into the issues of the DVD release.
