Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Mentalist Season 1 on 22nd September 2009 priced at $59.98 SRP. Starring Simon Baker as Patrick Jane – an independent consultant with the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who has a remarkable track record for solving serious crimes by using his razor sharp skills of observation – the first season of The Mentalist comes to DVD with the following features:
  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English DD5.1; Portuguese DD2.0
  • English SDH, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Korean, Thai and Spanish subtitles
  • Evidence of a Hit Series - Interviews with the creators, directors and cast expose the origins and inspirations for this alluring character—part Sherlock Holmes, part charlatan

That's the funniest cover art I've seen for ages -- a series concerned with a serial killer called Red John, where every single episode has a title featuring either the word Red or similar (e.g. Crimson), and they give it one of the bluest covers ever seen.

Definitely badblokebob, I just said to myself "why did they make it blue?" Very good series though, and will snap this up when it comes to UK shores.

I don't get the rationale of the cover art myself. It should have been splashed with red to go with the season titles. Oh well. I'll still get the set but Warner needs to get their act together.
