The August release in 2 Entertain's Classic Doctor Who range has now been confirmed as a mini-boxset featuring two stories, Time-Flight and Arc of Infinity. The last story of Season Nineteen and the first of Season Twenty, the Peter Davison-starring four parters were first broadcast in 1982 and 1983.

Time-Flight sees the Doctor and his companions Tegan (Janet Fielding) and Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) arriving at modern-day Heathrow and investigating the mysterious disappearance of a Concorde mid-flight. Ending up millions of years in the past, the Doctor learns that the Master (Anthony Ainley) is up to his old tricks once again with a complicated scheme that involves the Plasmatons, an alien gestalt with a split personality and a less-than-convincing crash in prehistoric Earth.

The following extras will be included:

  • Commentary with Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Script Editor Eric Saward.
  • Mouth on Legs - an interview with Janet Fielding (13:36)
  • Deleted and Extended Scene
  • Jurassic Larks - Behind the scenes footage from the studio recording sessons (19:33)
  • Outtakes
  • Peter Grimwade Interview recorded for the Mythmaker Videos in 1987
  • Photo Gallery
  • Coming Soon trailer
  • Production Information Subtitles
  • PDFs of the 1983 Doctor Who Annual and Radio Times Listings for this story.

  • Unsurprisingly, at the end of Time-Flight the Doctor takes the opportunity to abandon the abrasive Tegan at Heathrow and goes off with the far more gentle Nyssa. The following story Arc of Infinity sees the travellers reunited with their erstwhile companion in Amsterdam when the Doctor ends up there during a conflict that involves not one but two familiar faces - his old adversary Omega (Ian Collier) and an awkward fellow called Commander Maxil...

The following extras will be included:

  • Commentary with Peter Davison, Janet Fielding, Sarah Sutton and Colin Baker

  • The Omega Factor is a profile of the Doctor's adversary in the story (14:55)

That made me laugh! I always end up buying each title too. I am now bang up to date, with Survival arriving only a couple of days ago. As you say, it doesn't matter how bad the stories are, I find myself completely unable to resist - as usual, the extras here make the purchase a worthy one. Also, anything is better than the current series, the latest episode of which was a bastardised version of several science fiction standards with a Time Lord stuck in the middle. I like Tennant, but that assistant is bloody annoying.

The new series is awful. Anybody but RTD and it'd probably be the Greatest Show On Earth

Looking forward to this. Not the pinnacle of the Davison era, but I still like watching even his lesser episodes. Extras sound excellent.

These are a right pair of turkies for sure. The release schedule has been odd this year, heavily stacked in favour of the JNT era and picking an awful lot of rubbish amongst them!

I won`t hear of this slagging off of the new series though. It`s the best the show has been since the mid 70`s IMO. A time when the show was also blatantly ripping off all the best horror and s/f films as well!:D
