Wonder if all the extras and sound specs (True HD in several cases) will be ported over from the US releases :)

The RRPs are stoopid but I suspect this is just so HMV can sell the initial batch at a huge profit and justify some big display stands that Warner will want in their stores.

From that list Rumour Has It and Superman Returns are also combos in the US. I'm not interested in either but i'm sure Superman will be very popular with US buyers if it's not a combo like their version.

Also, as a correction, Full Metal Jacket is listed twice in the HD DVD list.

But then the cost of the DVD now and HD-DVD later would be more so it's not too bad. You're going to have to upgrade anyway so Combo is ideal.
I'm specifically only getting Combos though if all the extras are on the DVD side too. I would've got Superman Returns Combo but the DVD side is bare-bones
Dave do you know if any Combos are coming outside of The States?

Nothing official has been said, though from these first releases it certainly doesn't look as though they plan on using them over here.
I have the 360 HD DVD add-on ordered so will have no need for Combo discs. Although the upgrade path is a popular argument for the Combo, in most of the promotional material I've seen the Combo format is being sold on the basis that you can "play the disc anywhere", at a friend's who doesn't have a HD DVD player, or in the kids room where they don't have a player etc. They're really not pushing it as an easy upgrade route, which is probably why they're not so bothered about providing all extras on both sides of the disc.
For example, this is from Universal:
The new Dual Format Discs will be HD DVD on one side,
standard DVD on the other side, enabling consumers to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Consumers will be able to play the HD DVD side on their HD DVD player
or play the standard DVD side on their DVD players in their kids' room, portable DVD player, car DVD player, etc.
They can play the disc anywhere and anytime!

Fair enough as you say you can wait for the non-USA version.

It's annoying they're charging a premium when many won't even want the DVD side.

You'd think they'd think of both markets, it seems a bit dumb to me.
They can play the disc anywhere and anytime!
As long as they don't mind playing the extras only half the time :D
Thanks as ever Dave.
