Universal Japan have announced the Japanese Region 2 DVD release of Kill Bill Vol. 2 for 8th October 2004. Arriving in both standard (3,990 yen) and Premium Box (7,980 yen) editions there will also be a Vol 1 & 2 twin pack (6,279 yen). Please note there is no difference between the Japanese version of the film this time around, but fans of extravagant limited edition sets will surely be interested in what is on offer.

As always we recommend ordering from our most favoured affiliate, the always excellent Yesasia who not only offer free shipping on orders over $49 but guarantee tax free delivery (an absolute must on sets of this value!). Better yet, by using them you'll be supporting us and the direct banner links that follow the detailed specs below makes it easier than ever to do so...

Kill Bill Vol. 2 Standard Edition: - This single-disc release forms the basis of the two main editions, offering the film in anamorphic widescreen with a choice of English and Japanese DD5.1 and English DTS 5.1 Surround audio formats, alongside optional English and Japanese subtitles. Bonus features include a deleted fight sequence, footage from the premier party including a live-performance by the band Robert Rodriguez started Chingon, a making-of-featurette and the standard selection of trailers. As a bonus for those picking this release up during the first print run there will be four reversible sleeve designs featuring characters from the movie, though you won't know which version you have until you've made your purchase and opened it up (Yesasia have images of these designs on the page linked below).

Kill Bill Vol. 2 Premium Box Limited Edition - Just 30,000 units will be produced of this Premium Box edition that should match up nicely with the highly sought after Premium Box release of Volume 1. While the DVD is the same as the standard edition, this version is all about the packaged extras of which you get: a Kung fu T-shirt, "Love Bride" Bearbrick, Pai Mei Keyring, 10 Memorial card set and 24-page booklet. Pictures of these bonus items can be found at the end of this announcement.

Kill Bill Vol.1 & 2 Twin Pack - This set consists of the standard edition releases of volumes one and two packaged in, for the initial limited print run, a special outer case design.

And here is a closer look at those premium box extras...

A Kung Fu T-Shirt

"Love Bride" Bearbrick

Pai Mei Keyring

still no one has elaborated what the vanilla version is.

Great set though, and people can get both 'premium' sets together too on yesasia.com

Is it the same version (a.k.a the American R-rated version) as the rest of the world get this time, or do they get those extra seconds of blood this time around too?

Think I'm going to go for the Japanese release again. That cover art is so much nicer than the UK/US variant. Plus the spines will match. :D
