Optimum Home Entertainment have revealed their January 2010 DVD and Blu-ray Disc release schedule with the following titles announced…

4th January 2010

Just the one title, adapted from the broadway musical comedy and making its UK DVD premiere is How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The DVD includes the trailer.

11th January 2010

First up is the direct-to-video sequel Feast II: Sloppy Seconds which is available on DVD with a single extra - Scared Half to Death Twice: The Making of Feast II.

Next there are 4 titles in the Ealing Classics Collection - Painted Boats, Nine Men, Night Boat to Dublin and The Proud Valley - all are UK DVD premieres and barebones except the last one which has a trailer.

Other UK DVD premieres this week are Spring and Port Wine from director Peter Hammond, the Elvis Presley musical-western-comedy Tickle Me, The Lost Continent from Hammer studios and from writer-director Wolf Rilla is The World Ten Times Over. The first and last titles include trailers, the middle two are barebones.

Last up this week is And Then There Were None on the Agatha Christie Classics banner. The DVD includes the trailer.

18th January 2010

Another direct-to-video title kicks things off with the DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. Extras include Table Talk – a video snapshot of D&D gamers and their experience, selected scenes (x6) and the International Trailer.

A trio of titles under the Thorold Dickinson Classics banner all make their UK DVD premiere this week. The Queen of Spades comes with a new introduction by Martin Scorsese, an analysis by Philip Horne, the original trailer and 2 audio interviews with Thorold Dickinson from 1951 and 1968. Secret People also offers a trailer and analysis by Philip Horne. The High Command is the third title but features are TBC.

Several UK DVD premieres round out the week. These include horror sequel Howling II, sci-fi horror Night of the Comet, Fright with Susan George, Cry the Beloved Country and The Moonraker. Trailers are included on all but Fright and Cry the Beloved Country. Last up is another Hammer Classics title - A Challenge for Robin Hood - features are TBC.

25th January 2010

Dominic Sena’s thriller Whiteout with Kate Beckinsale is Optimum’s big new release title of the month and will be available on both DVD and Blu-ray. Extras include 2 featurettes (Whiteout: The Coldest Thriller Ever & Whiteout: From Page to Screen), deleted scenes and the trailer.

Delving into the Studio Ghibli catalogue Optimum will also bring you Ocean Waves on DVD (only extra is the trailer) alongside a new entry in their War Classics line with Undercover.

A few interesting titles in there.

No word yet, I don't suppose, on whether How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying gets an anamorphic transfer? The Region One isn't.

For some reason, having never seen it and in spite of its reputation, I'm dying to see Howling II. Not sure I'll pay a tenner for it though.
