Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the UK DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra on 7th December 2009. Directed by Stephen Sommers, this action-adventure based on Hasbro’s popular action figures comes to single-disc DVD (£19.99 RRP) and Blu-ray (£26.99 RRP) with the following extras:
  • Commentary by Stephen Sommers and Bob Ducsay
  • The Big Bang Theory – The making of G.I. Joe
  • Next Gen Action: The amazing visual FX and design of G.I. Joe

Audio is DD5.1 on DVD and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD on Blu-ray.

The press release also notes that both versions will feature “augmented reality technology that will allow owners to participate in an exclusive 3D holographic G.I. Joe combat experience, utilising the DVD or Blu-ray packaging, their webcams and a special website. Fans will be able to choose between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow to battle against their enemies one-on-one in an immersive 3D video game.”
