Warner & Paramount BD Oscar Re-releases

Academy Award branded re-releases are nothing new but this February Warner Home Video will be releasing a couple on US Blu-ray Disc including Casablanca which until now has only been available in its Ultimate Collector’s Edition form. Priced at $28.99 SRP, this Academy Award Winners branded release is joined by Amadeus at the same price. Both are available from 2nd February 2010.
Paramount Home Entertainment are also re-releasing several Blu-ray Disc titles on the same day in very similar packaging, so you can probably expect similar releases from the other big studios around the same time. Paramount’s line-up includes: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Ghost, Hustle & Flow, The Duchess, The Untouchables, There Will Be Blood and Top Gun.
Also arriving on 2nd February 2010 from Paramount is The Godfather and The Godfather Part II Sapphire Series Blu-rays. The only listed extras are the Coppola commentary tracks so it would appear these are the same discs that were previously only available in the box-set.
In other Warner Blu-ray re-release news it appears they have some kind of Valentine’s Day promotion in the works with several titles due to be re-released at $19.89 SRP on 19th January 2010. These include He’s Just Not That Into You, The Lake House, License to Wed, Nights in Rodanthe, No Reservations, P.S. I Love You, The Wedding Singer and The Women.
