Warner Home Video have announced the UK Blu-ray Disc release of The Dark Knight on 8th December 2008. The follow-up to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to destroy organized crime in Gotham for good. The triumvirate proves effective, but soon find themselves prey to a rising criminal mastermind known as The Joker, who thrusts Gotham into anarchy and forces Batman closer to crossing the fine line between hero and vigilante. Heath Ledger stars as archvillain The Joker, and Aaron Eckhart plays Dent. Maggie Gyllenhaal joins the cast as Rachel Dawes. Returning from Batman Begins are Gary Oldman as Gordon, Michael Caine as Alfred and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.

The 2-Disc Blu-ray Disc release will be available with limited edition foil o-ring packaging. Extras are TBC, but likely to match the US release.

And no picture yet for the "limited edition foil o-ring packaging" ?

I guess it's the pseudo-holographic cover with a striped plastic sheet that makes the picture behind it look three-dimensional.

No, that'll be "lenticular" packaging.

Ok, thanks for your answer :)
But it seemed to me that in the UK, The Dark Knight will have, so a limited edition foil o-ring packaging (i want some photos ^^), and a steelbook ?

If someone can confirm, thank you ! :)

I think o-ring refers to the sleeve. so i guess it means it has a shiny metallic-looking sleeve.

No-idea why they couldn't just say that though!

This movie is going to be absolutely huge. I've been working with Warner Home Video on some blu-ray projects and this really will carry the format through the end of the year.

The UK BD has no BD Live option. This has really angered me.

Other than that its a great disc and the Imax scenes are amazing. I am lucky enough to have watched 70 or so BDs (about 110 HD discs if you include HD-DVD) and this is the best picture I have seen produced by BD during the Imax scenes.

The non Imax scenes are great too but there are better looking discs on BD and HD-DVD.

The True HD track is great and is exactly as I remember it in the cinema.

The o-ring packaging is just a slip case and the bat symbol is kinda shiny on the front of it. The actual sleeve of the box is the Joker artwork and there is only one logo on it that being the BBFC 12. The Irish logo is not on the UK front box.
