3 from Sony in December - Art/Specs added

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of 3 catalogue titles on 2nd December 2008. Priced at $28.95 SRP each are Luc Besson’s La Femme Nikita and Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc. Also released is Stranger than Fiction, labelled as a new Special Edition and available the same day as the new Will Ferrell film Step Brothers.

Specs follow...

La Femme Nikita - The back cover carries no region coding information. A barebones release, features include:
  • 1080P 2.35:1 Widescreen
  • French and English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD
  • Subtitles: English, English SDH, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese

Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc - Also a barebones release, the disc is coded for all regions. Features include:
  • 1080P 2.40:1 Widescreen
  • English, French and Portuguese 5.1 Dolby TrueHD
  • Spanish and Thai 5.1 Dolby Digital
  • Subtitles: English, English SDH, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Korean, Thai, Chinese (Traditional & Simplified), Indonesian

Stranger than Fiction (Special Edition) - The back cover carries no region coding information. Extras are presented in a mix of standard and high definition. Features include:
  • 1080P 1.85:1 Widescreen
  • English and French 5.1 Dolby TrueHD
  • English Audio Descriptive Track
  • English, English SDH and French subtitles
  • Deleted Scenes (New)
  • Director & Cast and Filmmakers’ Commentaries (New)
  • Multiple Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes

Yeah - Nikita will be cool - but why The Messenger? Even though I like it (and a lot of people don't!), it seems to me there are plenty of Besson titles that'd be better contenders - Leon for example.

Indeed. But Léon has nothing to do with Sony. I am hoping we get a decent version of it soon over here though.

Actually, Leon is distributed by Sony in the US. The international rights are split between various companies, however, with, for example, Paramount owning it in Japan and Disney in the UK.

In case no one here's been following it in the forums, it seems that the German Leon comes in a steelbook and includes both cuts of the film. Sweet!
