Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (US BD) in October

Paramount Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on 14th October 2008 priced at $39.99 SRP. Set in 1957, the latest Indy film stars Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Shia LaBeouf, Ray Winstone and John Hurt, following Indy on a perilous adventure to find the coveted Crystal Skull of Akator. From the ivy-covered halls of Marshall College to the verdant jungles of South America, Indy is relentlessly pursued by sinister Soviet agents who will stop at nothing to get their hands on the eerie object of fascination.

A 2-Disc Special Edition, the Blu-ray is not region coded. All extras are in HD with the full list of features detailed below…

Excellent news. I did fear that we were going to have to endure the typical Spielberg/Lucas attitude of dragging their heels when it comes to releasing on a new format, so I'm very pleased to see this announced for Blu-ray. It certainly looks as if Paramount are pushing the boat out with this one. Let's hope the original trilogy isn't too far behind. :)

I did not expect this either. In Germany the DVD is going to come with an Crystal Skull. I wonder if the UK BD will also?


The artwork is nice, its a cropped version of the teaser poster. Looking forward to this, I didn't think the film was that bad actually.

If the stats on the regional coding can be confirmed and it will play in any player, then I'll certainly be picking up a Blu-Ray player.

The movie may have it's faults, but it will still be cool to see it in Hi-Def.
