Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of A Passage to India (Collector’s Edition) on 15th April 2008 priced at $28.95 SRP. Alec Guinness and Judy Davis star in David Lean’s sweeping drama of an English girl who travels to India and accuses a native of rape.

I've never heard of this before. Is it any good?
I guess it's been forgotten against all of Lean's other classics. Checking out IMDB it was made some years after his other classics too.

That may be the preferred ratio (though as director and DP are both dead, who can say). It's not the original theatrical ratio, though. 35mm prints were matted into 1.85:1 - and I can vouch for this, having handled one when we showed the film in my University film society.
This has never been my favourite Lean - and Alec Guinness's miscasting is truly embarrassing - but it may be worth another look twenty plus years on.
