Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of The Reaping on 16th October 2007 priced at $28.98 SRP. Investigative scholar Katherine Winter (Hilary Swank) is a debunker of modern "miracles," bringing scientific light to superstition and fraud. But events in tiny Haven, Louisiana, defy even her expertise. There, the 10 Biblical Plagues seem to be reoccurring. And the more she seeks answers, the more she questions her own beliefs.

Early specs indicate a double-sided disc (DVD10) offering both Widescreen and Full Screen versions of the film with English, French and Spanish audio (DD5.1 Surround) and subtitle options. Extras are TBC but are likely to match those confirmed for the Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD editions and include:
  • Science of the 10 Plagues: The search for scientific explanations
  • The Characters: Cast members reflect
  • A Place Called Haven: Explore this exotic landscape
  • The Reaping - The Seventh Plague: Those creepy bugs
  • AnnaSophia Robb’s Scary Story: The young actress portraying Loren narrates and recreates a scary story she’s written

Just wait until the UK version, where they pile on 5 critic quotes, tag line etc.

It is nice though. I wonder if it will be the finished product. Remember the "Premonition" cover everyone here thought was really well done (me too). Well they went and stuck Sandra Bollocks head over it. The blu-ray version seems to be the original one still (unless amazon just didn't update it).

I bet this will have a special lenticular o-sleeve where it will look as if the locust are swarming. Would be cool if they did.
