Universal Studios Home Video have announced two waves of US HD DVD catalogue titles for May. Wave 1 is due on the 22nd and includes The Skeleton Key and Smokey and the Bandit.

Wave 2 follows a week later on the 29th and includes Dragonheart, The Frighteners (Director’s Cut), Lost in Translation, Midnight Run and The River.

All titles are presented 1080P Widescreen with English Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 Surround audio and optional English SDH and French subtitles. Why is the Spanish audio and subtiles options not present on the HD-DVD version of Smokey and the Bandit and The Skeleton Key? I'm just curious, because it seems as though Universal is only catering to the U.S. and Canadian crowd with the English and French inclusions.

Wonder if all the extras from the 3 disc set of Frighteners have survived, not likely huh?

I wouldn't rule them out just yet. Superman Returns is a longer film and included a lossless audio option and they still managed to include the 3hr documentary, some 15mins of HD Deleted Scenes and other small extras.

Yes, Universal and Warner have been consistently excellent as far as porting extras is concerned.

Individual disc specs confirmed. Sadly The Frighteners isn't the complete package, shame they couldn't have just put the documentary on a 2nd disc really.

Scratch that, despite not listing the documentary in the official specs reviews and comments from people with The Frighteners HD DVD confirm the documentary is there.
