Is it too much to hope that Bad Timing will be 2.35:1 anamorphic (as it should be)?

Well, that's a start - but the last UK release was letterboxed.

It'll be interesting to see how kind (or not) time has been to Insignificance. I'd completely forgotten that Mr Busey was in it....

I'll give Bad Timing a try in view of the excellent write-ups which it routinely receives, although I'm a little uneasy about the fact that Art Garfunkel is in it.
If it turns out that I like it then a comparison with the Criterion edition would be useful.

I saw Insignificance a number of times in cinemas in 1985, and it was always shown at 1.85:1, so why exactly couldn't it be released on DVD that way? Still, at least if it's 1.33:1 full frame and not pan and scan, it'll be in line with those full frame Kubrick releases we all know and love.

Criterion's Bad Timing looks fantastic, and unless Network pull out all the stops, it'll be a tough one to beat. Ajenglish, don't worry about Art Garfunkel, he's playing an absolute creep in Bad Timing, and he does it very well.

How come Criterion couldn't persuade Roeg to do a commentary on Bad Timing? Annoying. It is a masterpiece, though. Art Garfunkel is rather good, really.

Pretty good, given that it was a period drama to begin with. The only really jarring problem is Stanley Myers' synthesiser score, which puts it firmly in the mid-80s.

It is indeed full frame - I watched it zoomed into 16:9 and it looked fine compositionally, though obviously we're talking the equivalent of a non-anamorphic DVD.

The Bad Timing transfer, on the other hand, is superb.
