Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US HD DVD release of The Good Shepherd for 3rd April 2007 priced at $39.98 SRP. Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Robert De Niro star in this powerful thriller about the birth of the CIA. Edward Wilson (Damon) believes in America, and will sacrifice everything he loves to protect it. But as one of the covert founders of the CIA, Edward's youthful idealism is slowly eroded by his growing suspicion of the people around him. Everybody has secrets…but will Edward's destroy him? Directed by Robert De Niro the film also stars Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, William Hurt, Timothy Hutton and John Turturro.
Released as a HD DVD Combo (30GB/9GB) the film is presented in High Definition on Side A with a 1080P 2.40:1 Widescreen transfer with English and French audio (Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1) and subtitle options. Extras include 16-minute of deleted scenes and a picture-in-picture U-Control feature (exact content is TBC).
Side B contains the Widescreen standard definition DVD version of the movie which is presented in 2.40:1 Anamorphic Widescreen with English and French DD5.1 Surround audio and English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
