Dracula could certainly do with a clean-up and the missing ending restored - if it still exists. I belive there were also some audio issues with the older R1 DVD

Frankenstein's been served pretty well on DVD, even if the audio sounded too filtered

Unless they are completely restored and HD(?) then this is a rather pointless release, the existing DVDs have a good documentary and audio commentary track. I'd much rather they put more effort into their Karloff and Inner Sanctum sets which have no real extra features at all, and into releasing the unreleased Universal Horror era titles.

I have read a rumour that these are going to be released on HD-DVD, so perhaps Universal are planning to put them out simultaneously on both formats?

I'm assuming Dracula will also feature the Spanish version, as usual.

Yes the Spanish version is included. A trade sheet has been added with the artwork for both sets.

I'll get the Dracula one if it has a new restored version. The last two DVD versions are murky and non-progressive. The negative is gone (it was lost in the 1940s due to overprinting), but Universal has much better material than what was used on the last master.

I already own the Legacy Collections, and I doubt they can get much better than those.

Actually the original release of Dracula looks better than the Legacy version.

The addition of the A&E Biography episodes ('Gentle Monster' & 'Dark Prince') as well as the outstanding documentary 'Universal Horror' make these a 'must own' for me.

If "Universal Horror" is the Kevin Brownlow documentary why is it on both DVD's.
Unless this brilliant 90 minute film is split between the 2 DVD's.
Does anybody know?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. It looks the same to me. However, if they release them on HD-DVD, I might reconsider.
