Any idea which are getting Remastered and which aren't? What real benefit will Remastering be on the four Pierce Brosnan 007 films?

Cheers Dave on confirming DTS etc... DTS on GE, TND and TWINE will be awesome.

Benefit of the Brosnan ones being re-done is it allows for uncut versions of Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies in the UK. Both of which have apparently been submitted to and passed by the BBFC recently, along with a proper uncut version of Licence to Kill. Just hope they've also used the correct print of OHMSS this time.

I'd be interested to know if the R2s are pitch corrected as the people doing the remaster audio were also involved I believe in LOTR PAL audio versions which were pitch corrected (with nasty results to some people's ears, mine included).

Just waiting HD versions now... :D

P.S. Note that by "stunning sound" in terms of DTS 5.1 they also mean, no original audio, i.e. the mono tracks. At least that's what I've heard :(

Do anyone know if the extra's are the same as the previous releases?
If so, not sure if its really worth the upgrade.

Well MGM rarely includes the original track if they've had the chance to go crazy with 5.1 mix. In fact, I don't remember a single case of such a thing happening; they either don't mix it into 5.1 at all or they include only that...with the dubs, ironically enough, getting stereo or mono mixes. :o

The R1's could have Mono, look at Magnificent UE R1 vs. UK R2.

They have and are now uncut. I already own the R1's though so this only interest me if I'm actually going to upgrade. Which I probably will.

Well Tommorrow Never Dies has definitely been resubmitted to the BBFC - it's been passed uncut at a 15 :)

No sign of Goldeneye on the site, but some of the extra features have been rated 15, and if that's the case Sony may as well get the film classified uncut at 15 anyway!

Your source? As ChoicesDirect have it confirmed from Sony this will NOT be the case.

I also read only some would get 5.1 remixed soundtracks so who knows.

I have the original tin set and I'll be sticking with it for now - I have no need for an upgrade on these films ,I'm happy as I am ( I still haven't seen most of the documentaries on the original DVDs yet!)
And don't forget boys and girls -the same discs will resurface with even better picture on HD-DVD and/or Blue-Ray -and then we'll start all this discussion again.

It's good to see a proper DVD spec. but it's a pity DD5.1 and DTS has been confirmed to be the ONLY audio options.

So no Mono/Stereo after all.

There might be a few things here and there but as far as I can tell the important stuff is all there, IMO the original documentaries which were perfect at the time and still are today.

The thing I'm curious about is how well the image has been restored ...

A View To A Kill was previously a PG but according to the artwork is now a 12. Licence To Kill was a PG and has now jumped all the way to a 15 certificate.

It was indeed. And A View To A Kill is still PG, but something in the extras (deleted scenes I think) has been given a 12, so that ups the certificate for the whole package.

That's good news, as long as it's still uncut (which I'm sure it will be).

To those moaning about the lack of mono, remember this is the "Ultimate Edition" set, the old fashioned and purists amongst you can keep your old DVDs.

I for one am really happy that they've not only remastered all the old films picture wise, but DTS is included on all as well. The only thing I'm a bit cautious about is whether Roger Moore will be able to sustain enthusiasm in his 15 hour commentaries.
