Buena Vista Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of four anniversary edition Muppet films for 29th November 2005. Restored and remastered to celebrate Kermit’s 50th Anniversary, The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island are all coming packed with new bonus features and are available for $19.99 (SRP) each.

They should be sued under the trades descriptions for calling them "special editions" - I bet those "profiles" are barely a few mins each.....

It's sad when Special Edition becomes a synonym for downgrade. Lets see, 'Christmas Carol' receives a Pepe Profile instead of the Commentary and Documentary. I'm guessing pretty much the same "special edition" treatment has been applied to 'Treasure Island' too. What a wasted opportunity :mad:

The press release shows that there a 1.85 transfers ALSO on the discs - I guess an update on this will show that. Where have all the lovely features gone from the previous discs, though?

BVHE have updated the press release, as when I posted this news item they were only listing 4:3. I suspect all the extras from previous discs will be included, they're just too dumb to mention them.

With all these Henson movies getting re-vamped, maybe ''The Witches" will finally get a treatment of some kind-the DVD transfer at the moment is pathetic

Finally a widescreen transfer of Christmas Carol (if it actually turns out to be widescreen this time around after their last attempts which still ended up 4:3 depsite the promise of ORA :mad: )
